The Artwork of Jason Van Tatenhove
A tour of my visual work for those of you who only know me through my books, interviews and podcasts.
Since this week is shaping up to be so busy with my trip to NYC, I thought I would take some time to introduce those of you who only know me through my books, writing, interviews, and podcasts to another side of me. The visual artist side. Also, tune into Anderson Cooper’s AC360 show on CNN and the Reid Out on MSNBC. I am scheduled for both. I should be appearing in Studio with Anderson later this week.
Art was my first creative expression in life, followed, believe it or not, by stage acting. (I lettered in drama in high school.)
As many of you already know, I was raised by an artist family. My grandfather was one of the Abstraction Expressionists in NYC back in the 50s and 60s, and I was forbidden to follow the artist’s path by my grandparents. They thought it was no life for me and suggested I become a nice attorney.
I promptly applied to my first of three art schools, and yes, I dropped out of all three.
I attended The Colorado Institute of Art, the Denver Art Students League, and Colorado State University’s Studio Painting program. All for about a year each.
I always found that I just didn’t quite fit in the life I was living at each. But I was successful in my ways. I had my first museum show at age 24.
In this post, I will show you a gallery of my work and a gallery of my old press clippings.
Below are a few of the press clippings on my artwork. Some of the articles are close to thirty years old.
