Breaking News: vegetation fire between Estes Park and Drake off of Highway 34

Mandatory and voluntary evacuations announced, single-engine air tanker (SEAT) is inbound. The fire is approximately 13 acres.

The Estes Park Fire Protection District was called out to a Vegetation Fire approximately five miles outside of Estes Park, heading east towards the town of Drake. The fire quickly progressed to a three-alarm fire, and mutual aid was requested.

Fire officials have issued mandatory evacuations for Soul Shine Road residents. All residents on the north end of Soul Shine Road should evacuate immediately. Door-to-door notifications have been made by law enforcement.

If traveling along HIghway 34, please watch for a heavy presence of emergency vehicles. 34 is not closed at the time of publication.

The fire is currently approximately 13 acres.

The Forest Service and @LarimerSheriff

have assumed unified command of the #SoulShineFire.

The fire is now 23 acres with two small spot fires. Fire is creeping and smoldering, burning on private and Roosevelt NF. Multiple agencies on scene. Hill
